Basuki Dismissed 120 Civil Servants

Jakarta Governor, Basuki 'Ahok' Tjahaja Purnama claimed that he had to dismiss 120 civil servants. There are some reasons, ranging from accepting bribes and rarely come to office. In addition, more than 2,500 civil servants have been demoted.

"I have demoted more than 2,500 civil servants and fired 120 civil servants," he disclosed, at City Hall, Tuesday (9/15).

Meanwhile, around 30 other civil servants are in dismissal process. There is no tolerance for those who accept bribes.

"Any form of bribery will be controlled, including its actor," he asserted.

Basuki admitted that the dismissal is in accordance with Law No. 5/2015 on Civil State Apparatus (ASN). When he served as a member of DPR Commission II, he was involved in Law drafting.

"So this is substance from ASN law. In fact, this is an effective way when you fired someone," he stressed.

Initially, Head of Jakarta Inspectorate, Lasro Marbun had yet to dismiss civil servant due to there was no legal protection yet. But after reviewing it in ASN Law, his party was immediately processing the dismissal.

"Previously, Mr. Lasro said that the dismissal was impossible. But I told him that ASN Law was made by me,” he asserted.

One of the dismissed civil servants is sub-department head. Yet, he did not mention it in detail. "This dismissal hit staff, official, and even sub-department head,” he finished.
